The Elders Project: Wesley’s Story

The Elders Project (T.E.P.) is an initiative under Project S.P.A.C.E. (Scarlett’s Platform for Access, Care & Empowerment) dedicated to preserving the stories, wisdom, and lived experiences of our senior citizens. In this episode, we sit with Wesley Brown, who shares memories of growing up in rural Trelawny, the changes witnessed throughout the decades, and the lessons that have guided a lifetime of resilience, faith, family, and community. At 95 years old, he reflects on a life marked by hard work, faith, farming, family, and service. From carrying a nesberry plant from Refuge to Perth Town as a young man, to working in Jamaica and Florida before retirement, his story offers a remarkable glimpse into the resilience and determination that helped shape our community. Through these conversations, The Elders Project aims to ensure that the voices of our elders are not forgotten, but celebrated and preserved for future generations. This project was created by Norbreyna Scarlett as part of her ongoing commitment to community development, cultural preservation, and intergenerational connection. Instagram: project_s.p.a.c.e
