Oandu - Ikla #1: początek wyprawy!

This year's idea for a wild vacation is the Oandu-Ikla trail (approx. 370 km), which runs along Estonia, from the Gulf of Finland to the Gulf of Riga. First, 12 hours in the car, then four more buses (from Ikla to Pärnu, then to Tallinn, then to Rakvere, and finally to Sipa), followed by a short walk to the trailhead in the tiny village of Oandu in northern Estonia. I'm returning to this green country after seven years with high hopes, although Leśka is making her first visit to this land. We begin the trail with a visit to the tourist center, where we buy paper maps and sign our presence in the visitors' book. The trailhead is marked by a gate to the forest. This isn't just any forest, we're in Lahemaa National Park. Sometimes the narrow path winds through such magnificent terrain that I begin to wonder if this isn't the most beautiful forest I've ever hiked. To start, today's hike is just under 10 km, with an interesting finish along an old dune. There's a lean-to shelter in Vosu, which we use. I swim in the river flowing nearby, build a quick fire to warm some bread and cheese, and draw some drinking water from a prepared tap. The soundtrack for writing this report is a mix of the babbling river and the crackling of logs crackling over the fire.
