Amtrak Albany, NY Yard Ops and Shop Tour 2002

This video from 2002 starts with the yard operations in Albany, NY that occur when splitting train 48/448, the Lake Shore Limited. The New York section is on the head end, and the P42s are removed and replaced with a P32AC-DM. A yard crew removed the Road Railers and Express cars from the rear and switch them to another track and a conductor is seen tying on a hand brake. The P42s back down onto the Boston section in order to continue the journey east. After viewing this, I head over to the yard and take a look at some of the last active F40s on the property and tour the shop facility. Note the rebuilt Rohr RTL II Turboliner and FL9 in the yard, as well as the Ethan Allen baggage car and Heritage Coach. With permission, I got a closeup look at the new casting P5A that came off of Turobliner #159 and the old casting P5A on F40 #223.
