Amtrak Lake Shore Limited Engine Swap and Coach Separation in Albany

Hello Railfans! Welcome to the Amtrak station at Albany, New York. This is the place where Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited route diverges into two different ending destinations, Boston and New York City. Amtrak runs one big set of coaches together from Chicago, with passengers separated by end destinations in different coaches. When the train reaches Albany. the two parts of the train are separated, and engines on either end are changed out. This is a super unique method of operating for Amtrak, and it is helped by Albany being similarly distanced from both major hubs. Come along as I take some up close video of how coupling, decoupling, and other parts of this change are done. Thanks to the Amtrak crew that work to make this transition as seamless as possible, more people are able to better cross the Water Level Route, and have access to Midwest.
