Check out the vocabulary down below and don’t forget to make a note of the useful words and phrases! 1. To peel = To remove the outer layer or covering of something slowly and carefully. 2. To get going = To begin a journey or start an activity. 3. An out and back (route) = Going to a point and returning on the exact same route. 4. Litter = Waste materials and products that have been dropped or left on the floor in public. 5. A segment = A part, piece or section that is separated or divided from a larger whole. 6. Moss = A small, green or yellow plant that grows on rocks, trees, walls and in wet earth. 7. Vine = A plant with long, flexible stems that climb up trees and walls. 8. The woods = An area of land covered with a lot of trees. 9. Cliff = A high area of rock with a very steep side, often found on a coast. 10. Rough (adj) = Not calm and flat, but windy, wavy and violent. 11. Quarter = One of four equal (or nearly equal) parts. 12. Nought = Zero. Often used in decimals. (0.5 = nought point five). 13. To calibrate = To check the setting or position on an instrument so that it can measure accurately. 14. Stunning (adj) = Very beautiful Very beautiful. 15. Plain (adj) = Not decorated in any way. It has nothing added to it. 16. Fingertip = The end of a finger. 17. To get your arse in gear = (informal and rude) To hurry up, start working faster, or begin taking action immediately. 18. Camber = A slight tilt in a surface. 19. Fluffy (adj) = Light and soft. Often giving the idea of warmth, coziness and cuteness. 20. To get out of breath = To become unable to breathe comfortably due to physical exertion. 21. Zip line / zip wire = A long cable suspended between two points, used as an exciting activity. 22. Steep (adj) = At an angle that is rather vertical. 23. Crunchy (adj) = Hard and makes a short, loud sound when it is eaten. 24. Tyre (adj) = A thick, rubber ring, usually filled with air, that fits around a wheel. 25. Log = A thick piece of tree that has been cut, usually for burning on a fire. 26. Log shed / log store = A shelter or similar structure used to store wood and keep it dry. 27. To slot = To fit, place or slide something into a specific narrow opening or position. 28. To march on = To walk in a quick and determined way. 29. Granny = (informal) Grandmother. 30. To waffle = (informal) To say a lot of words but not give any clear information.
