Camp Lake - Silent Hiking & Camping in the Cascades

I stayed at Camp Lake on the first or second backpacking trip I did after moving to Oregon… so 7-8 years ago. It was windy, cloudy and a bit rainy, but still a pretty amazing spot. This trip was much better. Clear skies and decent temperature. Still a lot of wind during the day and until around 3-4 am, but it’s always windy in that area from what I can tell. The first half or so was trail I covered earlier this year on my two trips to Middle Sister, but this time totally clear of snow. Not terribly hard hiking and traveled pretty light… except for the 80.3oz 6-pack I jammed in my pack… which I’ve never done before but I can’t say I hated it (burying it in a snow bank cools it down quite well). Likely won't do it again anytime soon, though. Totally calm morning with the water still enough to get near-perfect reflections of the mountains. Clear overnight so great star visibility and a good look at the Milky Way.
