Historic Trees of Zimbabwe Tree #27 The Lone Juniper of Nyahokwe

Imagine being 900 kms away from the nearest human. That's what it's like for this lone juniper tree (Juniperus procera) on the side of Nyahokwe mountain in Zimbabwe. It's nearest relative is on the Nyika plateau in northern Malawi. How it came to be there is a mystery. But as it's in an area of astonishingly rich archaeological history, it's provenance was probably at the hand of man. Join Gus Le Breton, the African Plant Hunter, in another episode of his Historic Trees of Zimbabwe series, to take a closer look at this very special tree.
