The Tablelands | Atherton's Gems and Waterfalls
In this episode, we get Benny back up and running and continue our exploration of The Tablelands in far Northern Queensland. Our next stop was Atherton, where we visited the Crystal Caves, a highly recommended attraction that did not disappoint! René Boissevain has spent a lifetime traveling to every corner of the world, collecting natural crystals and prehistoric fossils. He then created this ‘display,’ essentially a man-made cave filled with countless fascinating geological artifacts. This was exactly our kind of tourist attraction, and we had an amazing day. The kids even got some fantastic homeschooling experiences along the way! From there, we ventured out to Emerald Creek Falls—a stunning nature walk with a waterfall and numerous inviting swimming holes that we couldn’t resist, even though the water was only about 2 degrees! Enjoy! 😊
