2 Minute 8 Track Foam Pad Fix For 2 cents
Couple small details I forgot to mention. First of all, you need to make sure the foam is OPEN CELL. Not rubber foam or the light grey stuff. While those can be functional, they are much more dense and will technically cause the tape to wear out more quickly, to whatever degree. Also, when you make the crosswise slit in the foam as the last step where you're using the paper backing vs the old plastic strip, don't cut the paper in half. Just cut down to the paper. I know that seems obvious but you never know what someone might assume to do. Lastly, I ran out of razor blades and used scissors to cut in half lengthwise. Meant to say that you will get cleaner edges using blades, but it's only a cosmetic issue and no difference performance-wise.
