OS PADRES CARTUXOS (Les Pères Chartreux Version portugaise)
THE THREE CARTHUSIAN VOCATIONS ---------------------------------------------------------- While the Grand Chartreuse and the other Carthusian monasteries are generally well known to the general public in Europe, especially in France – the country where the Carthusian Order originated – they are often little known in other parts of the world. The Carthusian Order comprises three states of life: the Carthusian Fathers, who are the Cloister Monks, destined for the priesthood; the Carthusian Brothers, in their two forms of life: the Converted Brothers and the Donate Brothers; and the Carthusian Nuns, in their three forms of life: the Cloister Nuns, the Converted Sisters, and the Donate Sisters. That is why these three films were conceived as an introduction to better understand the diversity of these three very particular vocations. Produced at the request of the Carthusian Order, they were filmed at the Grande Chartreuse Monastery and the Carthusian Monastery of Portes (France) and Serra São Bruno (Italy), and for the Carthusian Nuns at the Carthusian Monastery of Reillanne and Nonenque in southern France. These monks and nuns, whose voices are heard in these films, testify with open hearts about their inner callings, about God, about their vocations, about their struggles, and about their eremitical lives with the Lord, which gives these three films a character that is both unique and captivating.
