Documentário: A Vida Cisterciense na Floresta de Maria (1959)

The delicate and profound documentary by SWR portrayed the daily routine of the Trappist monks of Mariawald Monastery, near Düren in the Eifel region (Germany), and was broadcast on March 22, 1959, one day after the feast of Saint Benedict. The Mariawald Abbey has a certain connection to our monastery: in the mid-19th century, Father Franz Pfannner left Mariawald and founded a monastery in Banja Luka, Bosnia, where our founder Athanasius Merkle entered in 1905. However, the Mariawald community was dissolved in 2018.
