When the Outback Says No | Corrugation Damage and No Fuel

In this episode of Vet in a Van, we set off toward Cameron Corner — the unique point where Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales meet. Unfortunately, the outback had other plans for us. After some seriously rough corrugations on the road to Innamincka and back, the Iveco took a bit of a beating. We ended up with a split water tank and a failed diesel transfer pump, which already had us rethinking the plan. The final nail in the coffin was discovering that Cameron Corner had run out of fuel — meaning even if we made it there, we could’ve been stranded until more fuel arrived. With Cameron Corner officially off the table this time, we turned around and headed back toward Broken Hill, saving it for a future trip. That said, it wasn’t all bad news. On the way back, we finally got some proper time to explore Tibooburra, discovered a few great outback free camps, and wrapped things up with a stay at The Valley Campground just outside Broken Hill. Sometimes the outback rewrites the plan — and this was one of those trips.
