A powerful and balanced 45-minute practice inspired by Ashtanga Yoga for experienced beginners, intermediate, and advanced practitioners. Here, we'll practice a selection of poses from the first series of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. I provide explanations and variations for individual poses, making this video suitable for various levels. We begin with the Opening Mantra, followed by Sun Salutations (3A, 2B), several standing poses, some seated poses, backbends (Bridge or Urdhva Dhanurasana), inversion (Sirsasana), and conclude with the Closing Mantra. Ashtanga Yoga practice is multifaceted and complex. The Ashtanga classes on my YouTube channel are primarily intended as an introduction to the practice and hopefully spark or strengthen your interest in Ashtanga Yoga. If you have the opportunity, I recommend practicing with an Ashtanga teacher in person long-term.
