Uma Minnow para Tucunaré? Minha versão da Midnight Minnow #lazariflyfishing #flytying

In this video, I show how I tie my version of the Midnight Minnow, a small, slim fly with controlled flash, designed for small and medium-sized Peacock Bass. The Midnight Minnow is a pattern associated with Mike Conner, originally developed around the minnow concept — a small baitfish imitation — for predators that feed on smaller prey. In this demonstration, I start from that original idea, but adapt the pattern to a very Brazilian fly fishing situation: Peacock Bass on the fly. My goal here is not to create a bulky fly to trigger fish through size or water displacement. The idea is different: a smaller fly, with the silhouette of an easy meal, especially useful when Peacock Bass are following the fly but not committing to larger patterns. This version was designed for my next fishing trip to Lago do Manso, where I plan to use a #6 setup around beaches, edges with lighter vegetation, and areas where small and medium-sized Peacock Bass usually hunt. This is not a step-by-step tutorial. It is a demonstration of how I tie this fly and the decisions behind each stage: a strong tail, controlled use of Crystal Flash, folded and reversed fibers, a grizzly saddle body, Palmer Chenille to build the head, and tie-in eyes to preserve volume and shape. Materials used: Maruseigo or Super Maruseigo hook #20 140 denier tying thread Chartreuse Crystal Flash White Zur Fibers Blend Grizzly saddle feathers Medium yellow Palmer Chenille Tie-in eyes UV resin The idea is simple: when Peacock Bass do not want volume, maybe they will take a small snack. If you also tie flies with a specific fishing situation in mind, leave a comment. I would like to know how you would adapt a Midnight Minnow for Peacock Bass. #lazariflyfishing #flyfishing #flytying #peacockbass #peacockbassflyfishing #midnightminnow #streamerfly #baitfishfly Pinned Comment Do you usually tie flies thinking first about how they look… or about what they are supposed to do in the water? In this version of the Midnight Minnow, my idea was to adapt the pattern for small and medium-sized Peacock Bass, especially when the fish are more selective and a larger fly may be too much. The logic is simple: less volume, more intention. Now I want to hear from you: what would you change in this fly for Peacock Bass? #lazariflyfishing #flyfishing #flytying Tags / Keywords lazariflyfishing, fly fishing, fly tying, peacock bass, peacock bass fly fishing, midnight minnow, mike conner, streamer fly, baitfish fly, minnow fly, fly fishing brazil, lago do manso, small streamer, fly tying demonstration, atado de mosca, pesca com mosca Chapters 00:00 Opening — Midnight Minnow for Peacock Bass 00:16 Origin of the pattern and the minnow concept 01:06 Why adapt this fly for Peacock Bass 01:56 Thinking about Lago do Manso and the #6 setup 02:46 Tail with Crystal Flash and Zur Fibers 03:42 Body with grizzly saddle feathers 05:12 Head with Palmer Chenille 06:19 Tie-in eyes and UV resin finish 07:11 How I plan to fish this fly 08:11 Summary of the adaptation 08:46 Finished fly and closing WhatsApp / Group Message Hi everyone, I just published a new fly tying video on the channel. This time I show my version of the Midnight Minnow, a small, slim fly with controlled flash, designed for small and medium-sized Peacock Bass. The idea is not volume. It is to look like an easy little snack when the fish are more selective. 🎥 A Minnow for Peacock Bass? My version of the Midnight Minnow 👉 [paste video link here] #lazariflyfishing
