Mount Hotham Was Not What We Expected | Victoria High Country Caravan Adventure

This week, our Victorian High Country road trip takes us deeper into the alpine region… and honestly, Mount Hotham wasn’t quite what we expected. Travelling with the caravan through Victoria’s High Country, we spent the week exploring alpine towns, winding mountain roads, historic huts and some of the most impressive scenery we’ve seen in a long time. From wandering through Dinner Plain to visiting the historic JB Hut, this part of the trip constantly felt like there was another hidden spot waiting around the next corner. But reaching Mount Hotham itself ended up surprising us in ways we didn’t anticipate. Sometimes when you build a place up in your head for years, the reality ends up feeling completely different once you finally arrive… and this episode became a mix of incredible scenery, unexpected reactions, and learning more about what makes this alpine region so unique. As we continued exploring the Victorian Alps with the caravan in tow, this stretch of the journey also reminded us how much we enjoy slowing down in smaller regional towns, taking the less direct route, and letting road trips unfold naturally instead of rushing from one destination to the next.
