“Laughing Anyway” is a lighthearted song and the seventh track in my neurodivergent series. I’ve written these songs on behalf of people I know and love, to help give others greater insight into mental health and neurodivergence. At its heart, this series is about encouraging people to care for their mental health while also creating deeper understanding between neurodivergent and neurotypical thinkers. Imagine what could happen if people truly understood different minds and helped nurture their incredible strengths in the right environments. I created this series in honor of the many people I know and love — past and present — as well as the countless diagnosed and undiagnosed individuals who recognize themselves in these experiences. It’s also inspired by many brilliant and misunderstood people throughout history. My message is simple: The world would be a much duller place without people like you.
