*SOLD A Lost Treasure - The Station Wagon was the American Family Car of Choice for 50 Years
*SOLD The great American family road trip - for more than half a decade, it was an annual tradition - everyone piled in the family wagon and drove halfway across the country to Wally World, stopping along the way for terrible food at roadside diners and to snap photos of the world's largest ball of twine. The full-size, full frame wagon was a highway warrior - over-assisted power steering, a soft suspension designed to soak up the bumps, and V8 power to cruise at highway speeds. There was plenty of room inside to spread out, and even more room for luggage, sporting equipment, coolers, and even the family dog. It was bliss. Those days are over. Women today wouldn't be caught dead in their mother or grandmother's wagon. If they don't look like general contractors or wildlife photographers, forget about it - the bigger the SUV, the better. And so the family wagon, the great American transport, slowly started fading away until it went the way of the Dodo bird. Sad stuff. This review focuses on this 1981 Pontiac Bonneville Safari, the general history of Pontiac, and of course the shitty Florida summer weather.
