This 40K Mile 1988 Buick Regal GM10 Car Was a $7 Billion Dud From GM - Review and Test Drive By Bill

The GM10 Platform from General Motors had high aspirations - very high. They originally planned to have 7 factories producing the cars, and expected to corner more than 20% of the Domestic new car market, or 500,000 or so of each brand made on the platform. This didn't happen. GM's enormous bureaucracy and inability to move quickly struck again. The cars came on the market two years later than expected, and utterly failed to wow the public. Contrast that to the Ford release of the Taurus/Sable two years prior, greeted with rave reviews and high sales figures. The platform, though mismanaged, was not a bad one. The cars were of a fairly high quality, and many remained on the used car market for decades, quite a few even today. The final GM10 derivative, badged as an Impala, was sold in 2015.
