Transalp Tag 1 vom Bodensee - Gardasee - Von Lindau nach Bad Ragaz ⛺️ | E-Bike Radreise

Stage data (Day 1): • Distance: approx. 75 km • Elevation gain/loss: approx. +600 m / -500 m • Countries: Germany 🇩🇪 → Austria 🇦🇹 → Switzerland 🇨🇭 • Highlights: Lindau Harbor, Bregenz Lake Stage, Rhine Cycle Path, Sarganserland region, Tamina Gorge Our 2025 summer tour across the Alps is finally underway. We set off from HI at midnight and arrived at the parking lot in Lindau at 6:15 a.m. There, we enjoyed a snack and packed our bikes with everything we needed for crossing the Alps. The weather cooperated, and we were able to really enjoy the first stage after the drive and get into the swing of things. We started at 8:30 a.m. in Lindau, from the Zech parking lot, where we had left our car for the next 14 days. ... Shortly after Lindau, we leave the shores of Lake Constance and cycle through verdant orchards and the rolling hills of the Allgäu region. The scent of fresh grass and apple blossoms accompanies us as we pedal along small country roads and cycle paths towards the Bregenz Forest. Near Lochau, we cross the Austrian border and follow the Rhine Cycle Route. The route leads us through the wide Rhine Valley, past lush green meadows, small villages, and typical Vorarlberg farmhouses with their carved balconies. A short detour to Bregenz is worthwhile, where the view sweeps across the famous floating stage and the Festspielhaus (Festival Hall) – a highlight on the shores of Lake Constance. Afterwards, the route continues through Hohenems towards Switzerland. At the border crossing near Oberriet, we cross the Rhine bridge and cycle into Diepoldsau – Switzerland welcomes us with perfectly maintained cycle paths. Here, a short break by the Old Rhine is recommended before we continue along the valley. The foothills of the Alps gradually rise to our right and left, and the first peaks appear in the distance. We cycle through the charming Sarganserland region towards Bad Ragaz, our destination for the day. At the campsite in Bad Ragaz, we quickly set up our tent so we could take a dip in the swimming pool. What a relief after a whole day spent in the car and on the saddle! The night was dry and quiet, and we recharged our e-bike batteries at reception. A huge thank you to @MatthiasFroehlich for the inspiration behind this trip. We followed large parts of his route and adapted the rest to suit our needs. Enjoy our adventure on our first Transalp, which has been our biggest challenge and longest cycling trip to date.
