The day begins at 8:00 a.m. at the bakery in Auer. For the first 40 km, we follow the Adige River along the embankment with a tailwind. Unfortunately, the route bypasses Bolzano, which we would have liked to visit. Yvi loves the crime series... so we decide instead to do a little sightseeing in Merano, which turns out to be a spa town and exudes the corresponding charm. After a quick snack from the local grocery store, we tackle the first six hairpin bends up to the two oversized wooden chairs that every VCA conqueror simply has to see! Shortly before Laces, we stopped at a cyclist's rest area for a drink of the same name, which turned out to be a tactical mistake. As we reach the Laces town sign, it turns pitch black and the heavens open. We quickly put on our rain jackets and make a detour to Lidl before the campsite, as we're craving salad today... A great stage with everything you could want and a first glimpse of what's to come!
