Day 2 of our Nilgiris Road Trip takes us through the breathtaking landscapes of Coonoor and Ooty as we explore some of the region's most scenic and iconic locations. We begin our morning with a beautiful drive from Ketti, surrounded by misty hills and lush tea estates, where we were lucky to spot a wild Indian Gaur (bison) in its natural habitat. Our first stop is the charming Ketti Railway Station, one of the highest railway stations on the UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Watching the famous blue toy train arrive through the eucalyptus trees was a magical experience, although little Manvi wasn't quite ready for her first train ride! The celebrations continue as we surprise Mummy with a birthday cake at Moddy's Café before enjoying the stunning valley views near Lovedale. Along the way, we also pass the historic Lawrence School, Lovedale, one of India's oldest boarding schools and the alma mater of Anand Mahindra. Our journey then takes us towards the picturesque Pykara region. En route, we stop at the famous Ooty Shooting Spot to capture some breathtaking drone shots before reaching Pykara Boating Point. Strong winds and rough weather prevented boating, but the dramatic skies and stunning aerial views made the visit unforgettable. On our drive back, we enjoyed roadside Maggi, roasted corn, and raw mango while soaking in the beautiful views near the Karnataka Park hanging bridge. We wrapped up the day with a delicious barbecue dinner at our resort, getting ready for the final leg of our road trip.
