The old lady said many houses are rented to Indians. ☕ The elderly people in the teahouse: Five people, totaling over 400 years old, spend their days drinking tea, chatting, and playing mahjong. They told us about the "division of labor" among the Chinese: Hainanese became cooks (working for the British), Cantonese mined tin, and Hakka sold clothes/repaired bicycles. Now everyone is involved in different fields, without distinction. 🦁 The Lion Dance Troupe, known as "The First Family in the Martial Arts World": Established in 1988, with over 40 students, all from Temerloh. The key point is—free instruction! A non-profit organization; anyone who wants to learn can come. In Penang, there are Malay and Indian children performing lion dances, but here it's still the Chinese themselves. 🛕 Thean Hou Temple (over a century old): Renovated annually, it still looks very new. The elder man at the temple recounted the story of the Nanyang mechanics—many Chinese returned to China to fight against the Japanese, "going to their deaths." He also talked about how, during the British colonial period, the Chinese were centrally managed, forming "new villages," and that they had to use the sun to tell time. These histories are now unknown to later generations. 🧵 Traditional crafts: A tailor shop altering trousers for 7 Malaysian Ringgit; key duplication; sewing machine and fabric shops. An uncle spotted me taking pictures from afar and laughed, saying, "Take a few more pictures." There were also retro shop signs, the MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association), and a Datuk Gong temple (with clay statues of roosters representing masculinity and righteousness). 🌉 Riverside Park: The Pahang River divides Temerloh and Mentakab into two banks, connected by a suspension bridge. A giant Patin fish model is the landmark here.
