淡马鲁 必吃 发酵榴莲巴丁鱼 Tempoyak Ikan Patin 又酸又辣又怪 比Asam Pedas还带劲 越吃越上瘾 Go' Bang Maju Tol 绝对值得

🐟 We've been talking about a fish since arriving in Temerloh. We've seen it, learned its story, and now—it's time to eat! We found the most famous restaurant for durian fish. 🍽️ First Impressions: Entering, you take a plate and push a cart, like a self-service selection. We thought it was a buffet, but it turned out to be a glass-enclosed buffet (49 MYR/person, all you can eat, but no durian fish). To get durian fish, you have to push the cart to a special stall. 🔥 Tempoyak Durian Fish (Fermented Durian Patin Fish): 21 MYR per serving. We chose the fish tail. It was heated over a fire. It smelled faintly of durian, but tasted—strange! Very strange! It was like Asam Pedas (a spicy and sour dish) with a durian added. The refreshing spiciness was suddenly overpowered by the sweet, creamy, and fermented taste of durian. The first bite was jarring, but it became increasingly addictive, even burning hot. The Patin fish has a soft, delicate texture and no scales, similar to the river catfish from Chongqing (but at a more affordable price). It has a slight fishy smell, but the durian sauce completely masks it. 🤔 Comparison: Asam Pedas are something you'd want to eat again and again, but this durian fish is enough for one visit. I wasn't particularly fond of the sweet and spicy combination, but as a specialty, it's definitely worth a try. The story of Temerloh is hidden inside the fish's belly, which refers to it. 🥘 Other dishes: We ordered a mushroom and egg custard with a thickened sauce, which was very delicious. The Malays gave us a huge amount of rice. 💡 Summary: Delicious despite its unusual flavor; durian can be made into a sour, spicy, and numbing dish, making the fish itself almost irrelevant.
