Queen - Live in Stuttgart (27th September 1984)
QUEEN QUEEN QUEEN Tour: The Works Date: September 27th, 1984 Venue: Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle City: Stuttgart, West Germany Attendance: 13,000 Audio Quality: A Lineage: AUD - Aiwa CM3-0 - Aiwa HS-F1 - Compact Cassettes (2 x TDK SA-C90) - Aiwa HS-F1 - Zoom H2 - SD-Card Reader - Hard Disc - Sound Forge 9.0d (Track Splitting, Fades) - TLH (FLAC Level 8, SB Aligned) - Nero Wave Editor (Editing and Fixing) - Nero Burner (with EQ for High and Low Adjustments) - Silvers - Audio Grabber to WAV - FLAC Level 8 Master by weizman; Remastered by Nordico The pictures were taken by Bob King (main), Wolfgang Gürster (top left and right) and Wilhelm Mierendorf (black/white). After the Frankfurt show, Queen travelled further south to Stuttgart, where they performed their only ever concert in the Swabian capital after visiting Böblingen (a smaller city 20 kilometres south west of Stuttgart) twice in 1979 and 1982. Here, they perform an absolute wildcard show, ranking highly among other beloved performances on 'The Works' Tour. Out of nowhere, Freddie's voice is almost back at full strength, making for superb renditions of songs such as 'It's a Hard Life', 'Hammer to Fall' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Clearly thrilled by this sudden change of pace, the band join in on the festivities and play many awesome renditions of songs, giving their absolute all during solos, jams and everything else to make this one of the go-to concerts of the decade. In fact, the mood on stage is so good that the band bring back their cover version off Elton John's 'Saturday...' for the first time since London. It wouldn't be the last time on the tour. On a side note, most of the show was filmed by an audience member in pretty rough quality - nonetheless a historic recording as it is the earliest known Queen audience footage not filmed with an 8mm camera. Snippets at this show: 'Mustapha' (before 'Dragon Attack'), 'Johnny B. Goode' by Chuck Berry (during 'Now I'm Here'), 'Machines (Or 'Back to Humans')' (during Spike's keyboard solo) and 'Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)' (before 'Bohemian Rhapsody'). 00:00:00 - 01.
