The Tablelands | Historic town of Herberton

In this episode, we visit the Historic Village of Herberton, an open-air museum in Herberton, Queensland. The Village is located on a 16-acre site and comprises over 50 historically restored period buildings dating back to the 1860s, set out like a tin mining town. It is the largest private collection of its type in Queensland, and we were captivated by its charm! You name it, there is a collection of it here - cars, machinery, radios, and even some terrifying old children’s toys! It was a fascinating place, and we quickly lost a day wandering around the grounds. It also makes for an excellent home-schooling activity, providing insights into the history of the region and broader 19th-century living. Enjoy!
