Prof Herkül Millas: “17-25 yol ayrımıdır, Erdoğan baskı yolunu seçti, ama tarihi miras unutulmasın"

In this installment of my series, "Turkey's Quarter Century Under the AKP and From Hope to Darkness," my guest is Professor Herkül Millas. A founding member of the Turkish Workers' Party in the 1960s and a firsthand witness to the left-wing movement, Millas kept a close watch on Turkey from Athens for many years, writing books critical of both Turkey and Greece. He examines our topic from both short-term and long-term perspectives, particularly drawing on the geography theory of the great historian Fernand Braudel. He argues that in the short term, the "Ahmet left, Hasan came" approach could very well lead to new disappointments. According to him, Turkey completely deviated from the path of reform with the public and opposition's indifference to the 17-25 December corruption files and Erdoğan's choice of repressive measures.
