The Staircase (Renovating My Ancestral Home in China - Episode 18)

Welcome back to my channel documenting my adventures in renovating my ancestral house in Zhongshan city, China’s Guangdong province. In this episode, I talk about something I’ve long neglected - a very important part of the house - the staircase. According to feng shui, the Chinese belief in the proper placement of things, staircases are an important conduit that channels “chi” (energy) between the different levels of your home, office or business. To make sure there’s positive energy flowing through our ancestral home, and to be able to go upstairs safely, I had to rebuild the old, barely usable staircase, the right way.
