Morning Devotional for Women | Saturday, July 18, 2026 =================== Beware of Suspicions “Are you of any use to God? Does the Almighty value your uprightness? Does he take any advantage of your perfect ways?” – Job 22:2-3 (NIV). Chapter twenty-one begins the third round of speeches and shows us a completely hardened Eliphaz. Upon hearing Job insist on his innocence, the human advisor launches a series of logical arguments that completely distort divine grace. He argues that the Most High doesn't care whether a human being is righteous or not, reducing the relationship with our Creator to a cold business contract. The most painful thing happens halfway through the chapter, when Eliphaz, noticing that Job's experience didn't fit his theological mold, decides to fabricate serious faults for him. He falsely accuses Him of stripping the naked, denying water to the weary, and sending widows and orphans away empty-handed. This is a sad reflection of a merciless religion that prefers to destroy the reputation of others rather than admit that its own human explanations are wrong. This attitude invites us to reflect seriously on the danger of becoming judges of those around us. When interacting with our church community, working with colleagues, or coordinating household chores, it's easy to fall into the temptation of evaluating others' fellowship based solely on appearances or the problems they're facing. When we see a fellow believer become discouraged, a mother in the children's ministry lose patience, or a community service project fail, our own pride tries to whisper quick explanations, assuming that if they suffer or fail, it's because they neglected their prayer life. Using biblical truth as a rigid yardstick to measure and point out the faults of others, forgetting empathy, is a trap that withers the unity of the body of Christ. The great lesson this morning is that true piety never rejoices in the humiliation of the fallen, but rather seeks to lower itself to the ashes to lift up the brokenhearted. Eliphaz had a very structured theological vocabulary, but his words completely lacked unconditional love, which led him to present a false picture of God's character to the suffering. The end of this passage contains beautiful advice about turning to the Almighty to find peace, but it lost all its power because it was mixed with slander and suspicion. God does not want us to defend His justice by attacking people; He longs for us to demonstrate a superior patience and gentleness, capable of safeguarding the well-being of those who suffer and offering a safe space where the wounded soul can heal without fear of being unfairly judged. Ellen G. White left us a very clear warning to protect ourselves from this condemning spirit: “Many profess to follow Christ, but they harbor within themselves the spirit of Eliphaz, judging the motives of other people’s hearts harshly… When misfortune touches a church member or difficulties enter a family, we should not be quick to find fault or to declare that the affliction is divine judgment. Pure religion does not consist in a cold, condemning theology, but in manifesting the genuine compassion of the Redeemer. The Savior dealt with souls with infinite tact; He never uttered unnecessary rebuke, but extended His hands to bind up wounds. If we allow the Holy Spirit to govern our minds, our language will change, and we will be living channels of restoration” (Mind, Character, and Personality, vol. 2, p. 535). This assurance invites us to be bearers of grace. Walk with a heart free from suspicion, trust fully in the marvelous providence of your Creator, and rest in the certainty that understanding others is the greatest reflection of the love God has poured into your life. ========================= Morning Devotional for Adults 2026 Morning Devotional for Youth 2026 Morning Devotional for Women 2026 Morning Devotional for Teens 2026 Morning Devotional for Children 2026 Morning Devotional for Toddlers 2026 Revived by His Word 2026 ============= Morning Meditations 2026 Morning Devotional 2026 Christian Morning Devotionals 2026 Today's Devotional 2026 Christian Devotionals My Devotional 2026 Christian Messages Devotional Readings 2026 Ellen G.
