Morning Devotional for Youth | Saturday, July 18, 2026 =================== Pure Gold “If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored… The Almighty will be your gold, your finest silver! Then you will find delight in the Almighty, and you will lift up your face to God.” — Job 22:23, 25-26 (NIV) A young woman who was actively involved in the digital communications department of her local church became entangled in a very lucrative design project that led her to stray from her ethical principles and completely neglect her daily prayer time. Attracted by the immediate profits and professional prestige, she began to justify minor dishonesties in the delivery of her contracts, convincing herself that “a small compromise” wouldn’t affect her spirituality. However, after a few months, a critical computer error wiped out her entire portfolio of work and left her with mounting debts, facing the collapse of her worldly ambitions. Amid tears and frustration, the young woman humbly acknowledged that she had tried to build her security on shaky foundations; she sought divine forgiveness, reformed her habits, and once again dedicated her talents to serving others, experiencing an unshakeable peace that money could never buy. This same urgent invitation to reorder one's inner affections and purify one's living environment is what articulates Eliphaz's discourse in Job 22. Inaugurating the third cycle of debates, this counselor adopts an extremely harsh stance, accusing the patriarch of excessive iniquity and falsely assuming that his tragedies are the direct consequence of a supposed covert oppression of widows and orphans. Despite the profound injustice of his personal recriminations, the passage recovers a theological message of enormous spiritual value. Eliphaz assures him that the true restoration of the soul comes not through pride or bitter complaints, but through a decisive act of voluntary submission: returning to the Throne of Grace, casting earthly idols into the dust, and allowing the Most High to become the only priceless treasure of existence. For the new generations who today struggle with feelings of inadequacy, the relentless pursuit of digital validation, and the temptation to build their security on the material achievements of the secular world, these words resonate as a call to action. Contemporary culture constantly encourages young people to accumulate fleeting riches and condition their peace of mind on social status, fostering an inner emptiness that clouds discernment. However, Scripture teaches that the true value of a child of God is not measured by temporal possessions, but by the purity of their character. The maturity of faith is manifested when young people willingly choose to cleanse their lives of destructive habits or misguided ambitions, lifting their faces with the dignity that comes from heavenly forgiveness. “When the soul submits completely to the direction of Heaven, the riches and allurements of this world lose their power to fascinate… The Savior demonstrated incomparable love in offering His transforming grace to redeem us, assuring us that intimate communion with Him is a treasure infinitely superior to the finest silver, instilling the firm hope of His soon return” (Steps to Christ, p. 27). Fixing our eyes on the Savior is the only effective remedy against the illusions of today’s society. The enemy seeks to keep young people in a state of spiritual paralysis or subtle greed, convincing them that obeying God’s law requires giving up true prosperity and happiness. However, genuine revival demonstrates that joyful submission to Heaven’s commandments safeguards life from the worst emotional disasters.
