Thursday Captain Boot Review | Why I Recommend Them More Than Any Other Brand

I decided to take a closer look at their most popular boot, The Captain. OVERVIEW Thursday aimed to create the perfect hybrid boot, something that’s not too dressy or too workhorse-y, and The Captain succeeds on that front. It’s a handsome boot with a slim, sleek silhouette that would be at home with a t-shirt and jeans or with a business casual outfit. It’s simple, but it works in the boot’s favor, and my favorite thing is that there were no quality control issues: no loose threads, no loose grain, no welting issues. LEATHER Thursday has a few different leathers available for the Captain, the Brown pair I got is made of Thursday Chrome. That’s a custom-developed full hide leather that's very similar to Horween's Chromexcel, which is to say it’s super moist and full of oils and waxes. It’s also less prone to scratching than Chromexcel, in my opinion. LEATHER CARE Pretty simple: clean with a soft cloth or horsehair brush, then condition with Venetian Shoe Cream. Thursday Chrome is moist enough that you probably only need to condition them two or three times per year. FIT & SIZING The sizing is pretty similar to most other boot companies, meaning you should order a half size down from what you wear with sneakers. Thursday doesn’t do the B-through-EEE sizing on widths, instead doing “Standard” (for D and E) and “Wide” (for EE and EEE). If you’re more narrow, consider ordering a size down.
