Transmisión, renovables y gas: especialistas piden visión integral para seguridad energética

The Peruvian energy system requires comprehensive planning, greater regulatory coordination, and an urgent reinforcement of transmission infrastructure to guarantee energy security and enable the growth of renewable energy by 2030. This was the consensus among specialists during the panel “Renewable Projects, Transmission, and Energy Infrastructure Towards 2030: Decisive Actions to Harness the Potential of the South,” held within the framework of PERÚ ENERGÍA Sur Arequipa. Carlos René De Kergariou, from Redinter, pointed out that the main bottlenecks in the development of transmission projects are associated with institutional management and contract execution. He warned that the lack of effective support from the grantor throughout the project cycle can lead to delays and work stoppages, and therefore proposed strengthening technical and regulatory oversight from planning to operation. Erick García, from the College of Engineers of Peru, emphasized that energy security must begin with state-led planning that integrates natural gas, renewable generation, and backup infrastructure.
