The Morning We Read About Him | Father Turbo's Homily

He had already given away his inheritance, freed his slaves, and set out to become a hermit. Still, the Lord had other plans: a life spent healing strangers, housing the homeless, and refusing payment even from an emperor he helped save. In his homily, Father Turbo contemplates the feast of St. Sampson and a small local echo of the saint’s own life: rain falling over Kansas City the very morning his story was read, recalling the miracle in which St. Sampson’s prayers brought rain to quench a fire. The saints don't simply watch from heaven. They remind the Church to continue the works they did on earth.
