あなたは今を選ぶことができる | Maho Shono | TEDxHimi
You Can Choose the Now "Have you ever been on an unforgettable journey?" asks Maho Shono at the beginning of this talk. For her, her journey to Peru four years ago was such a journey, during which the questions on her mind were, "Why am I born?" and "How should I live?" Swallowed up by vast loneliness in the light of the moon, she came to realize that this world where not all wishes are fulfilled is in and of itself a miracle. "There is no past or future. Everything happens only in the Now," she says. The past and history are only there to help us choose the Now. To make the best choice, now. "Have you ever been on an unforgettable journey?" Maho asks at the beginning. For her, her journey to Peru four years ago was exactly that. She traveled with questions in her heart: Why was I born? What should I live for? And then, under the moonlight, swallowed by a profound loneliness, she realizes that the world, which doesn't always go as planned, is itself a miracle. "There is no past or future. Everything always happens only here and now," she says. The past, history—they are merely materials for choosing the present. So that we can choose the best path forward now. ----- Maho was born a twin with her sister in Oita Prefecture. Ever since birth, she has had synesthesia in which sounds, people, places, and memories evoke her with the visualization of a particular color. she has therefore spent her life growing up in a world filled with rainbows of color. Faced with a number of personal issues at the age of twenty, she found difficulty in loving herself for who she was. It was only after the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11 2011, that she decided to change her life by trusting in the thrills and excitement that fate brings. In December 2012, she came face-to-face with death while traveling alone in Peru. It was then that her outlook on life changed dramatically. Returning back to Japan, she established “EARTH GYPSY” with her twin sister. With just $600 in hand and trepidation in their hearts, the sisters set off to America on an experimental journey. She is on an ongoing quest to explore the colors of her cosmos through lectures, literary Writings and artistic creations. Her literary works include "EARTH GYPSY" and "The Law of Acceptance." Favorite destinations include Cusco, Peru, Northern India, and Chiang Mai. Mahoshono Born in Oita Prefecture, Japan, as one of twin sisters. She was born with synesthesia, experiencing colors in sounds, people, places, and memories. She grew up in a world of vibrant colors from a young age. After turning 20, she began to dislike herself and her life went downhill. The 3.11 earthquake and tsunami prompted her to change her lifestyle to one of "living only by believing in what excites her." In December 2012, a solo trip to Peru brought her to the brink of death, drastically altering her outlook on life. After returning to Japan, she formed "EARTH GYPSY" with her twin sister. With only $600, she traveled to America on an experimental journey to see if she could live a life that prioritized her heart. She continues to explore ways to play with the universe of color through lectures, writing, and artwork. His books include "EARTH GYPSY" and "The Law of Acceptance." His favorite places are Cusco, Peru, North India, and Chiang Mai. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
