“Memory as a Form of Justice” — the second panel of the conference “Kherson Region on the Frontier: Steppe, River, Fortress.” At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, archiving war crimes was the main way to preserve memory. Awareness of the nature of this long war changed both the forms of preserving memory, the demand for different forms of remembrance, and the nature of testimonies and witnesses. However, one fundamental thing did not change — the demand for justice. When memory as a space of retention and preservation, as resistance to destruction and erasure, as resistance to silencing, turned out to be an important form of justice. How is memory changing and the demand for memory policies after 2022? How does collective memory work during war? Can memory be a form of justice? The following participated in the panel: Mykola Homanyuk — sociologist, researcher of memory politics Serhiy Dyachenko — museum specialist, local historian, architect (Kherson) Svitlana Osipchuk — director of the Museum of War Childhood in Ukraine Moderated by — Anastasia Platonova.
