When you visit Ladakh, make it a point to try the local food here. It is the best way to assimilate some local culture into you. And with this video we offer you a quick primer as to how to do that. The food we have is going to be 100% vegetarian, but it is also 100% free of fast-food choices that many make while travelling. I do not want to describe every item we relished on in this description. You need to watch the video to find that out. Instead let me give you an overview. From basic meals on our journey from Srinagar to Leh, then exploring the food scene in Leh and finally food along the way to Pangong, this episode covers in all. And not just full meals, we talk about minor delights such as kahwa, churpe (hard yak cheese) and yak’s milk as well. In a brief interview, we get to talk to Mr. Mohommad Hanif, proprietor of Buckwheat Restaurant in Leh Market that serves Balti food and more, all of which is made using buckwheat. His impassioned plea for all to use this ingredient while explaining its benefits will make to rush home and change the atta in your house! We visit De Khambir, the go to place for local items in Ladakh and talk about peculiarities of the food served and Pangong which comes off a kitchen that receives electricity that receives for only 3 hours a day.
