Churrasco, cavalo crioulo e tradição

A traditional barbecue marked the last day of the Freio de Ouro 2025 edition, the main event for horse breeders of a breed called crioulo, held at Expointer, in the city of Esteio, in southern Brazil. Under the command of barbecue chef Adriano Bitelo and his team, participants tasted carefully prepared cuts, such as lamb shoulder and rack, entrecote, boneless ribs, flank steak, sausages, and a special lamb Carreteiro (meat, rice and seasonings), in addition to delicious side dishes. The Freio de Ouro is a test that evaluates the performance of this Brazilian breed in field activities and gaits. The Crioulo horse is a Brazilian breed, whose origins date back to the Bebere and Andalusian animals, introduced to the continent in the early years of the discovery of Brazil, mainly in the region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Animals that had become lost, began to live freely in the region, in the wild, for more than three centuries. Subjected to harsh climate conditions, little by little, through natural selection, a very resistant breed emerged, capable of facing the most difficult climate situations and even food shortages.
