Even Now was described as the natural follow-up to My Redeemer, framed as an acknowledgment of God’s continuing grace and love for the church. AllMusic notes it as the follow-up to My Redeemer, released in 2000 — that earlier album had become the most acclaimed work of his solo career, chronicling his fight with cancer and his faith.
