The complaint originated in the United States and was filed by the victim's family. The suspect is Richard, her partner. The police intervention occurred after the complaint was forwarded to a lawyer in Brazil, who contacted local authorities. Upon arriving at the indicated location in the Santana region, the police found the woman and her young child. She confirmed her identity and Filipino origin to the officers. Richard was not present during the initial contact with the police; he was working as a delivery driver at the time. However, when he returned to the apartment where he kept his ex-partner under constant surveillance and without personal documents, including retained passports, he was arrested by the police team. The suspect faces serious charges including domestic and psychological violence, false imprisonment, stalking, and threats to the victim's physical integrity. He denies all allegations, stating that he feared she would take their child out of the country without his consent.
