Using someone else's knife that you stole or took away, including cutting, is forbidden because it is not yours. It is using property without the owner's permission. But is it permissible to eat meat slaughtered with such a knife? Yes, because the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "Whatever causes blood to flow and over which the name of Allah is mentioned, then eat it," have a general, all-encompassing meaning. It is also said: "If it is slaughtered with something that causes blood to flow and over which the name of Allah is mentioned." The obvious meaning of this hadith is that if blood flows, then it is permissible to eat it, even if the vessels of the neck or arteries are not cut. Does the hadith indicate whether these vessels are cut or not, but rather whether the blood flows out, is it edible? Sheikh Uthaymeen says that ensuring blood flow is only possible by cutting the jugular arteries. Leaving them uncut will not ensure blood flow. Whoever studies the religion of Allah (exalted and exalted is He), the Quran, Sunnah, and fiqh, becomes educated in all fields of knowledge, including non-religious sciences.
