I Covered the Entire Front Fork

In this episode, I handcraft a complete set of aluminum fork covers. The bike is equipped with a high-end Wilbers 46RR front fork — but instead of leaving it exposed, the design calls for the entire fork to be visually integrated into the bodywork. The covers extend from the upper fork area all the way down to the fork feet, giving the front end a cleaner and more continuous appearance. There is no technical need to hide the suspension, this decision is purely about creating the distinctive proportions and design language envisioned for DA#22. In this episode: • Developing the shape and proportions of the fork covers • Transferring the design into aluminum • Hand-forming the individual panels • Creating two matching covers for both fork legs • Fitting the panels around the Wilbers 46RR fork • Checking clearances and alignment • Mounting the finished covers on the motorcycle The challenge was to create covers that visually simplify the front end without making it appear too heavy or oversized. Even a small change in their width, taper, or position has a major effect on the overall appearance of the motorcycle. DA#22 is being developed together with Diamond Atelier and is based on a heavy modified KTM 1290 Super Duke. Almost every visible component is being redesigned and handcrafted specifically for this project.
