Exploring the Mount Saint Helens Backcountry with Neighbor Al
In this video, neighbor Al (82 years young) and I hike from Coldwater Lake to the Johnston Ridge Observatory on the North side of Mount Saint Helens in Washington State. Along our journey, we pass through the town of Toutle, cross the Toutle River, and stop by the Mount Saint Helens Science and Learning Center at Coldwater Lake. We leave from the Hammocks Trailhead and make our way along the Boundary Trail to the Loowit Viewpoint, then eventually arrive at our final destination, Johnston Ridge Observatory. During the filming of this video, the observatory could only be reached by foot due to a washout along highway 504 which closed the road. Thanks for watching!
