El Gigante De La Aviación Fue Destruido En Segundos I Trágica Catástrofe

Igor Sikorsky was 24 years old when he built the first four-engine airplane in history, the Russky Vityaz, in the workshops of the Russo-Baltic Company in St. Petersburg in 1913. The aircraft made 53 flights, set a world record for endurance, and was inspected by Tsar Nicholas II, but it was destroyed on the ground by the engine of another aircraft that fell onto its wing. Sikorsky did not repair it: he built the Ilya Muromets, the world's first strategic bomber, which flew more than 400 missions in World War I. The 1917 revolution forced him to flee Russia with $600 in his pocket, and in a chicken coop on Long Island, he founded the company that decades later would produce the first practical helicopter in the United States, the VS-300.
