First Time in Marrakech… Souks, Street Food & modern Marrakech (Day 1 Vlog)
First time in Marrakech — and honestly, it’s not what I expected. We skipped hotel, booked an Airbnb for 5 nights, and this is how Day 1 went. We didn't really have a plan. Started the morning in Gueliz, the modern part of the city — proper clean streets, nothing like what you'd expect from Marrakech. Grabbed breakfast from Pastry Al Fadl, really good pastries, worth the stop. Then took an Uber (yes Uber works here, massive W) to Koutoubia Mosque. Non-Muslims can't go inside but we got to pray there which was special. From there we just walked towards Kasbah, got some ice cream and tea at Zeitoun Café Kasbah — nice spot to sit and take it all in. Ended up doing a horse ride, 350 DH for 40 minutes. The guy took us through some areas we wouldn't have found on our own and dropped us straight at Bahia Palace. 100 DH adults, 50 DH kids. It's not huge but the detail inside is mad — hand-carved cedarwood ceilings, mosaic tilework everywhere, open courtyards. Built in the 1800s for the Grand Vizier, it was meant to be the greatest palace of its time. We were done in about 30 minutes but it was worth it. After that we got lost in the Souks on the way to Jemaa el-Fna. Fresh orange juice for 20 DH, chicken tagine, kofta tagine, chips — fed the whole family for around 140 DH. Walked back through the souks the other side and grabbed an Uber home. Proper good first day. TIPS FOR MARRAKECH: 💳 Use Monzo — withdraw cash from Al Barid Bank (no fees!) and pay contactless with Monzo wherever possible 📱 Get a Holafly eSIM — unlimited data, cheap, and the network coverage is solid throughout the city Places mentioned: Las Torres de Majorelle (Airbnb) Pastry Al Fadl – Gueliz Koutoubia Mosque Zeitoun Café Kasbah Bahia Palace Jemaa el-Fnaa 00:00 - Welcome to Morocco 00:58 - Airbnb Tour 03:41 - Gueliz Plaza (new area in Marrakech) 05:22 - Taking uber to Koutoubia mosque 06:17 - Koutoubia Mosque 09:56 - Horse-drawn carriages Marrakech 13:04 - Bahia Palace 15:53 - Souks of Marrakech 16:28 - Jemaa al-Fnaa 17:52 - Food at Jemaa al Fnaa 19:15 - Souks in Medina 22:19 - How was first day? #morocco #marrakech #urduvlog
