This video introduces three soba restaurants in Muroran City: "Chisho," "Sobadokoro Sarashina," and "Soba Cafe Renka." We visited a total of 126 soba restaurants. First stop: "Chisho" - Cold Tempura (1,500 yen) The soba was distinctive. It had a very chewy texture, but it wasn't exactly springy. It was a strange and interesting type of soba. Unfortunately, the soba sauce was already poured over it, so I couldn't really taste the soba. The soba sauce was light, with a good balance of saltiness and sweetness. It also contained yuzu pepper to add a little flavor, which added a second layer of flavor. It also came with wasabi on a separate plate, adding a second layer of flavor. Next time, I'd definitely like to try their mori soba. Second stop: Sobadokoro Sarashina (Tempura Soba, ¥1,100) In another video, I ordered Mori Soba. Both the soba and the soba broth were excellent. This is one of my favorite soba restaurants. This time, I ordered Tempura Soba. The broth was rich and smooth, with a good balance of saltiness and sweetness. It's a comforting broth that makes you want to take a break when you drink it. And the soba. Unlike with Mori Soba, I couldn't detect the aroma of the soba. It also didn't feel very chewy. However, it was still easy to slurp. The main dish, Tempura, had a fluffy batter and egg that was melt-in-your-mouth. It was an excellent tempura. It was a kakiage (fried tempura) filled with lots of small shrimp, topped with egg. It was a shame the shrimp was a little tough. However, the fluffy, creamy texture of the tempura batter and egg was exquisite. Third Stop: Soba Cafe Renka (Warm Soy Milk Soba, ¥1,200) This soba restaurant has the highest Google rating in Muroran City. It's a stylish soba restaurant and cafe that's a bit out of reach for older guys. I ordered the unusual dandan-style soba. First, the soba. The noodles were thick. I expected the sticky texture of country-style soba, but they were not. They had the chewy texture I love. I was blown away by the texture! The soup was also delicious. It had a mild dandan noodle flavor. Another great feature is that you can adjust the spiciness by adding chili oil and Sichuan peppercorns. They have a wide variety of menu items, not just soba, but also sweets and drinks, all of which are appealing. It's no wonder they have such a high Google rating! In Muroran City, I sampled a total of eight soba restaurants. My four favorite soba restaurants are Sobadokoro Sarashina, Eizan, Kogane Wanishi Branch, and Soba Cafe Renka. Matsusoba is also a soba restaurant I'd go to every day if it were closer to home. Hokkaido is the number one producer of soba in Japan!
