A walk around Harrisburg Mall.

Harrisburg Mall is a regional mall located in the eastside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Originally opening in 1969 as the Harrisburg East Mall, the Harrisburg Mall enjoyed success in the late 20th century. In the 2000s, the mall would start to struggle, and the failure to finish a revitalization plan that would convert part of the mall's parking lot into a "streetscape" would tarnish the mall's image, especially as the surrounding area started to gain a reputation for crime. The mall would enter new phases of struggle as the '10s began, and many tenants were closing and relocating to other nearby malls in the Harrisburg area. In 2020, Macy's closed their location at Harrisburg Mall, leaving only Bass Pro Shop as an anchor. In 2023, the owners of Harrisburg Mall, St. John Properties, unveiled a plan to redevelop the Harrisburg Mall which would include demolishing the entire mall except for the Bass Pro Shop and rezoning the land as light industrial. This redevelopment plan was unfortunately approved by local officials in June 2023, and the mall could permanently close as early as the following year. Today, unless a miracle happens, this extremely liminal mall continues to limp along as it awaits the day its owners close its doors for good. Intro/gallery music by Forhill.
