Выставка Живая традиция, вчера, сегодня, завтра - Галерея Беляево в 4K60. 105 лет ГХПУ им.Строганова

The Belyaevo Gallery of the Moscow Exhibition Halls Association presents the exhibition "Living Tradition: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow," a project dedicated to the 105-year history of the College of Design and Decorative Arts of the Stroganov Russian State University of Art and Industry, formerly known as the Kalinin Moscow School of Art and Industry. The exhibition features the graduation works of several generations of students, including iconographic images and objects from various fields of decorative and applied art. The exhibits include interior items, costume elements, and unique, original works of art. The exhibition features home and church icons, varying in typological and stylistic features. Authentic materials and techniques are used in their painting, preserving the symbolism, linear rhythm, color scheme, interpretation of faces and figures, and spatial construction characteristic of icon painting. The wood painting is executed in the traditions of the folk arts and crafts of the Russian North and Central Russia, from Mezen painting with its characteristic laconicism and graphic quality to Khokhloma with its golden glow and floral motifs. A number of works feature the characteristic Zhostovo brush-painting techniques on trays, creating smooth color transitions and adding volume to the shapes of flowers and leaves. Lacquer miniature painting on papier-mâché, a complex multi-layered technique, requires a strong grasp of drawing, a gift for color, and a developed imagination. The artistic language of Russian lacquer miniatures lends a fairytale-like, magical quality to landscapes, literary themes, and scenes from everyday work. Enamel art is represented by works from recent years, reflecting the intensity of creative exploration and the artists' willingness to take risks and experiment. Metal art objects utilize materials such as copper, bronze, iron, and steel, as well as techniques such as bending, chasing, embossing, casting, forging, and cloisonné enamel. The exhibits include small sculptures, panels, and jewelry. Tapestry and pile carpets are distinguished by a variety of color schemes, the flexibility of materials, and the expressiveness of textures, accentuated by tactility. The technological peculiarities of hand-weaving determine the use of geometric patterns and the geometrization of the forms of pictorial elements. The width, rhythm, and pattern of the ornamental stripes reveal the structural basis of the object. Bobbin lace offers a variety of weaves, a contrasting and nuanced combination of textures, a captivating richness of patterns, and the traditions of Vologda, Kirov, Belyov, and Mikhailovsky lacemaking. The embroidery features ornamental and narrative compositions created using various techniques (line stitching, Vladimir stitch, gold embroidery, chain stitch, and others). The juxtaposition of openwork and relief elements, shiny and matte surfaces, and the use of a restrained monochrome or a broad color palette create a powerful decorative effect. In bringing their designs to life, each artist featured in the exhibition considers the properties of the material, utilizes traditional crafting techniques, utilizes stylized motifs, and correlates the decorative composition with the form and purpose of the piece, achieving visual harmony and meaningful meaning. The high artistic quality of the pieces is primarily due to the fact that, since its founding in 1920, the goal of our school has been to train specialists in the crafts and develop new designs, capable of creative self-development. Works from the Soviet period are characterized by a keen sense of modernity, combined with the ideological function of art. Traits of the "grand style" in decorative and applied arts are evident in lace and embroidered curtains and panels from the 1930s to 1950s, while the influence of 1960s minimalism is noticeable in the artistic designs of a number of other textiles. Signs of the times are evident not only in the style of the works but also in their subject matter: Soviet symbols and portraits of leaders, collective farm construction, the Michurin movement, and the conquest of space. In recent decades, the spatial environment itself has become a marker of modernity, understood primarily as a communicative space, as a dialogue between the artist and the viewer. When choosing the topic of their diploma projects, future master artists are increasingly focusing on home interiors, contemporary jewelry, and art objects. Various types of artistic textiles integrate traditional technologies into modern dress, representing one of the rarest, original expressions of such a vibrant cultural phenomenon as "Russian style." https://m.vk.ru/belyaevo_gallery #exhibition #crafts #folkart #art #curator #lace #lubok #tapestry #weaving #carpets #weaving #graduates #artexhibition #artgallery #artisttalk #art
