Join us as we travel just 40 minutes outside of Saigon to discover one of the most unique local dining experiences we've found in Vietnam! This hidden countryside restaurant has an incredible concept: you catch your own food, and the restaurant cooks it for you. Whether it's shrimp from their indoor fishing pond or fish from the beautiful outdoor lake, it's a true catch-and-cook experience that allows you to live like a local in Vietnam. The restaurant provides fishing rods, bait, and everything you need to try your luck. Rod rental is inexpensive, and once you've made your catch, the staff will prepare and cook it to your liking. It's the perfect way to immerse yourself in Vietnamese culture while enjoying a relaxing afternoon with family and friends. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎣 OUR ADVENTURE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ We started the day relaxing by the pond, enjoying a few cold beers and trying our luck with the fishing rods provided by the restaurant. Our first fish wasn't quite the one we wanted, so we released it back into the pond. The second fish looked promising... but escaped from the hook before we could land it! Not exactly the start we were hoping for. While fishing, we met a wonderful Vietnamese family visiting from Houston, Texas. They were back in their homeland for a holiday and were incredibly friendly. We shared some laughs, stories, and enjoyed chatting about life in Vietnam. Determined not to leave empty-handed, we kept fishing. Third time lucky! Kacey finally caught a fish worth keeping, and we placed it carefully into a bucket while we continued fishing. The restaurant requires a minimum of two fish for cooking, so we needed one more. That's when something amazing happened. A young Vietnamese boy and his father, who had been fishing nearby, kindly offered us one of their fish so we could enjoy the full catch-and-cook experience. The generosity of local people never stops amazing us. We handed both fish to the restaurant staff, who prepared and marinated them to our liking before bringing them back for us to grill and enjoy. Freshly caught, locally prepared, and absolutely delicious. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 💰 WHAT DID IT COST? ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ One thing that surprised us was how affordable this experience was.
