Final Boarding Call For Amtrak's Heartland Flyer

The days appear to be numbered for Amtrak Train 821 & Train 822, The Heartland Flyer. Although running between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth Texas for more than 25 years, it may only have 100 or so days left to live. With Texas and Oklahoma being unwilling to fund the trains, and the fares not covering the costs of running the trains, Amtrak is poised to cease operations. With this in mind, I made it to Fort Worth for a ride in each direction on the Heartland Flyer- while I still could. In addition to the Heartland Flyer itself, I took in sights in both cities. In OKC, the Canal Walk is most enjoyable, and riding the streetcar is free! Fort Worth's Central Station had amazing commuter action, along with BNSF freights and Amtrak's Texas Eagle trains.
