Prosecutors contend that his actions demonstrated reckless operation of the vessel, while the defense disputes key aspects of the allegations and the circumstances leading up to the collision. The case has drawn significant public attention due to the devastating loss of life, questions surrounding boating safety, and the legal battle over responsibility for the fatal crash.
