Start Where You Are || IRONMAN Texas Race Week
This run was one of my final durability sessions before race week. A lot of Ironman preparation comes down to doing work at the pace you actually need to hold on race day—not just running fast intervals and hoping they translate later. Today’s session was built around descending long efforts and learning to stay controlled while tired. Something I’ve been realizing more and more lately is that you have to start where you are. For me that meant backing things up earlier in the build and focusing on steady aerobic work instead of forcing numbers that weren’t there yet. Now the cost of the training is starting to come down, and the sessions are feeling more natural again. At this point the goal is simple: trust the work, trust the plan, and show up ready. Race week.
